Theatre Returns: Our 2021/2022 Season!

The Olive Branch Theatre team is overjoyed to officially - finally - welcome audiences back to LIVE in-person theatre with our 2021/2022 season of shows!

Our plan:

With the health of our staff, artists, and audience as our number one priority, we have established COVID-19 safety measures as part of our reopening plan, in accordance with public health guidelines.

Masks: All audience members, production crew, and management staff will be required to wear a mask that covers the nose, mouth, and chin at all times during their visit to the theatre. Masks should fit snugly against the face without gaps; cloth masks should have at least two layers of fabric. Neck Gaiters and bandanas are not permitted.

Vaccination: All visitors and staff will be required to be fully vaccinated to enter Olive Branch Theatre shows. Details on how to provide proof of full vaccination will be communicated prior to the beginning of our live performances. Exceptions may be made for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. These patrons will need to provide a doctor’s note and take a non-invasive Rapid Antigen Test upon entry before being admitted to the theatre. We will continue to update our policy on testing as more information from provincial leadership becomes available.

Ticketing: Electronic tickets will be encouraged as a means of entry. Simply present your tickets on your mobile device when entering the theatre. If you do not have a mobile device, you may print your electronic tickets at home prior to arrival. No physical ticket pick-ups will be available according to our paper-less environmental policy. Only those with a ticket registered to their name will be allowed to access the property.

Contact Tracing: For health and safety purposes, and to track those who have been in contact with each other, all audience members need to have their name and contact information registered to a ticket.

Reduced Capacity & Sanitization: Our live performances will have reduced capacity, which is subject to change according to current public health regulations. We ask that you use the hand sanitizer provided as you enter, and at designated points throughout the theatre.

Cleaning: Enhanced cleaning measures before and after performances have been established. Common contact surfaces and washrooms will be regularly disinfected.

Our season:

First in our line-up is A Night on Jewish Broadway premiering in December 2021 - this cozy evening affair, knitting together various Broadway musical pieces with Jewish influence or composers, will journey you through a vibrant and touching story about the impact of music in our lives. This relatable story combines actors and audiences alike with our similar experiences of loss, longing, and love - leaving you with wistful memories of a truly special evening at the theatre like never before.

In February 2022 - Happy New Year! - Olive Branch Theatre will present a beautiful and bittersweet Chekhovian musical celebration of resilience with Three Sisters: A “New Normal” Cabaret. When the pandemic hit, it flipped our world upside down. And as free-thinking individuals, we all had choices to make — pressing decisions on how to go about living. All together, we began yearning for a new normal. But all of us dealt with the crisis differently. There were ones who, like Olga, felt the need to care for those around them, while regretting all they haven’t done for themselves. Others, like Masha, jumped at the chance to make a change, just to find themselves confused or heartbroken. Some, like Irina, were able to stay optimistic, saw the silver linings, and focused on the future. And just like in Chekhov’s timeless drama, our three sisters dream of going to Moscow. But for them, Moscow means something different all together. Because each of us has our own yearning from 2020 — our own Moscow. So, join us in Three Sisters: a ‘New-Normal’ Cabaret — a musical celebration of resilience in the aftermath of both change and suffering.

To close out our season, we are thrilled to announce the premier of Birth Day in April 2022! Performed in an intimate setting with a small cast, Birth Day explores the intricacies of birth, parenthood, and all that comes before and after. Audiences will be treated to an auditory experience that immerses them into the world of the story for a unique adventure that leaves the audience with deep thoughts and complex feelings they may have never expected.

We eagerly wait for your return to our audience as we are beyond ecstatic to bring these new works to you! We welcome you, and thank you in advance for your cooperation with the terms of our reopening plan in order to secure your safe return to our seats! We’ll see you at the theatre!
